IMM #15 – In my Mailbox August, 19th 2012

So the past couple of weeks I was first sick (stupid summer flu) and then really busy so I didn’t do any IMM Posts for a few weeks. But don’t worry, you won’t miss anything, because I will tell you what I got the past 3 weeks. As I haven’t been to the Library (even tho I REALLY need to go by now – books overdue) I only have NetGalley Books except one Book I got offered by the Author on Goodreads which I just downloaded a few minutes ago. I will split the Post by weeks.

Books I got at NetGalley (Week 1: July 30th – August 5th):

Shadows of Justice #1: Justice Incarnate by Regan Black (August 1, 2012)

Book I got offered on Goodreads today:

Please stay by Denise Kim Wy

Please Stay by Denise Kim Wy (August 2012)

Ok, now you are up to date again with the books that I got. I’m a little angry about myself that I didn’t see that two of the books where 2nds in Series especially as they look really nice but I don’t want to read books of Series out of order. Seems like I will have to find the first ones first and read. Also I wanted to mention that I love most of the covers of the books that I got the past three weeks. Nearly all of them look really intriguing and awesome and/or cute.

What did you get this week? Hope you had a great week too and Happy Reading!

IMM #14 – In my Mailbox July, 29th 2012

This week was a rather quiet week in regards of books. I didn’t have to go to the Library (even tho I was for about ten minutes or so to show a friend around) so I didn’t get any books from there. Also on netGalley there wasn’t a lot of excitement or at least I wasn’t aproved for a lot of books. Only for two to be precise. But it could have been a lot more because I realised that we have a Shakespeare & Company in town and went there with friends on Friday but stayed strong and didn’t buy any books. I am really proud of myself.

Books I got at NetGalley:

Will write Release Date next to Titles.

Zombie by J. R. Angelella   One Breath away by Heather Gudenkauf

Zombie by J. R. Angelella (June 5, 2012)
One Breath away by Heather Gudenkauf (July 6, 2010)

So that’s it already for this week. That was the shortest IMM I ever did. I hope you still enjoyed it and got some great books for yourself. See you next time and happy Reading!

IMM #13 – In my Mailbox July, 24th 2012

Again a long time has passed since I did my last IMM Post. One part of it being me MIA and one part trying to not get too many books at the library as I have way to many NetGalley books left to read (And they are constantly coming in too). Still I was a bad girl this week. It started off pretty innocent as I “just” wanted to return some books that were due… and ended up getting 6 new books *sigh*. Yeah, whatever. So here they are. (All of them exciting enough to not being able to leave them at the Library)

Books I got at the Library:

Pretty (Uglies #2) by Scott Westerfeld   A House of Night #5: Hunted by P.C and Kristin Cast   A House of Night #6: Tempted by P.C and Kristin Cast

Riley #4: Der erste Kuss (Riley Bloom #4:Whisper) by Alyson Noel
Awaken #1: Die Rebellion der Maddie Freeman (Awaken #1) by Katie Kacvinsky
Der Nachtzirkus (The Night Circus) by Erin Morgenstern

(aren’t these Covers amazing? The Riley Bloom book even has sparkle on it! I am a sucker for sparkling things!)

And now for the NetGalley books. Did I already mention that I have some kind of Obsession or NetGalley addiction or something like that?

IMM #12 – In my Mailbox April, 8th 2012

It’s a long time since I last did an IMM Post. I tried to do a Video for it for so long and never managed to get around to so I finally gave up and do it the old fashioned way now. Wow, it’s April already! Can’t believe how quickly the time flies by when you are stressed. At least Spring is finally coming around the corner. I was soooo waiting for that, I hate Winter and cold. As I didn’t do the IMM Posts in a while I have LOADS of Books to show you today so better get started. But before I start I have to tell you that – because it’s so many books – I will leave the Summaries out today. If you want to know more about the Book simply click on the Cover and it will lead you to the Goodreads Page of the Book. First of all the Books I got from the Library.

I promise myself (and you) that I won’t wait that long ever again until I write the next In my Mailbox post. This took insanely long to write it’s ridiculous! If you read that far: Bravo! Thank you for your patience. So Happy Easter and see you next week (I’ll really try!)

Bloggiesta Wrap up Post

Three days are over, already! The time went by way too quickly. I managed to do only a small portion of what I wanted to do but at least a little bit.

On Day 1 I had a late start because I had to deal with two papers first. I finished one and tried to postpone the other one (haven’t heard back by the teacher yet, so can’t tell if it was successfully). As it was late by then already I just did the Pinterest Mini-Challenge and commented on a few To-do-Lists and then went to bed. Sadly I couldn’t attend the Twitterchat because it was too late for me and I had to go to class the next morning.

Day 2 started with said Class and when I was back home I was sooo tired I couldn’t really do anything so I went for a nap – which made me have even less time . *sigh* Luckily I did manage to get at least a little bit done. I decluttered my Sidebars, wrote the long threaded and most feared Review Policy Page and thought about New Content which was a bigger success than I thought beforehand. I also attended the Twitterchat that day, it was a blast!

Today which was Day 3 I slept in way too long (I start to see a pattern here) and attended the Twitterchat. I updated the Excel Sheet I have for my NetGalley books (and realised how many I have to read by now! brrr), did the Goodreads Mini-Challenge and the one where you learn how to make your Reviews better. I also read through the 5 tips to write your Reviews faster but didn’t do the Challenge part for it.

That’s all not a very huge success especially because I wanted to write and schedule a lot of posts and didn’t even manage to write an IMM Post but I did at least something and got some motivation to do more in the Future. Also I met a lot of awesome people during this weekend. I love the Book Blogger Community, everyone is so kind and helpful. It feels like a big family. Btw did you realise it too that (nearly?) all of us where females? I couldn’t really find any male blogger the whole weekend! Not that I have a problem with it I am just wondering! Is it because reading in general is something that more girls do than boys? Hm, this will keep me thinking a while longer I guess :).

So when it was time to call it an End I was in a kind of depressed mood for a bit. Not sure if it was because the fun weekend was over already or because I was mad at myself because I wasted it without doing a lot…

How was your Bloggiesta Weekend? Did you manage to do everything on your list? Or at least most? If yes, Congratulations, I am really proud of you! (and a little jealous :D)

All I have left to say now is Bye Bloggiesta, see you again in September for the next Weekend of Blogging Madness and Love spreading! Thank you Suey and Danielle for hosting this awesome Event!

IMM #10 & #11 – In my Mailbox February, 29th 2012

So I recorded the IMM Video #10 two weeks ago but had to repair my Laptop first so it didn’t go online. That’s why I decided to do a “double dash” version of IMM and made a two in one Video this week.

The Books I am Talking about in the Video:

Will update this tonight after work.

Book Blogger Love-A-Thon: Challenge #3

What? It’s the last Challenge already? AWW 😦 I could have done that a while longer.

So in this Challenge we have to talk about our Book Blogging experience so far. So this is my Story (This sounds like the introduction to some kind of reality-tv show).

Starting my own blog was actually a new Years Resolution. Who would have thought that I would stick to it, at least not me! I have tried some stuff like this before but never sticked to it. So when I set up my wordpress blog I really wanted to make it this time. This was already at New Year 2009/10 so pretty long ago. Back then this wasn’t a Book Blog.

When I started, I wasn’t really sure about the direction I wanted to go. First I planned to do a blog about Fashion and Geekness. It then became more of a personal blog where I challenged myself or talked about my everyday life. After some time I found the Bookblogger Community and really liked it a lot so last year at New Year (do you have some kind of déjà vu? I do!) I decided to change the Blog to a Book Blog.

I then participated in the Bloggiesta, it’s an event mainly for Book Bloggers but also for others. It was a whole weekend filled with mini-challenges and stuff to improve your Blog. During this weekend I made the switch to the blog how it is today (more or less). But shortly after that… I kind of stopped doing Posts on my blog. I don’t really know why tho. I have a feeling that I might have put myself under too much pressure. I thought of “having to do” stuff constantly and my perfectionism got in the way. I didn’t abandon my blog totally tho because at least I was constantly updating my Reading Challenges and my List of Books I read.

So in December 2011 finally I decided to give it another go. But this time I decided to start slow. I decided to start just with one IMM post every sunday and if this became a habit I would try to add something else to it. So far it works out pretty well, I did not miss one week so far. One reason, that this time it seems to work out better is, that this time I somehow managed to get people to read my blog. Not a lot yet but slow and steady. Also I got introduced to NetGalley this time of the year which gave me a huge boost too. Also connecting through Goodreads did that, which I think I joined a little earlier already but slowly start to get into too.

What is still my biggest obstical is writing Reviews. If you look at my Blog closely you will see that I wrote only about 3 reviews or so. That’s not a lot. I have no idea why I am having such a hard time on doing them. Maybe the perfectionism again. But I promised myself to do it slow this time so I will see. Also I personally don’t like to read Reviews the most. I more like stuff like In my Mailbox or something like that. Another thing I have no idea where this comes from.

Lately I also started doing Videos on youtube because I wanted to try it and because I love watching them myself (not my own, the ones of others 🙂 ). I am just having a hard time with my Laptop at the moment, it keeps overheating. But I really want to go on with this as this is fun and there are so many Booktubers I adore!

So yes, that’s my story how I got into Bookblogging. I didn’t think this would become such a long wall of text. Thank you for reading that far.

Sending Love-A-thon Love to all of you!
